The commencement ceremony for the a new-built project located in Lantau Island took place this morning (16/5). Yau Lee Construction is honoured to be awarded as the main contractor, participating in the construction of a new facility, utilizing DfMA for the structural steel roof and MiC for the outdoor restrooms. Both DfMA and MiC methods aim to reduce construction time and ensure quality. During the ceremony, Rosana of Yau Lee Group met many old friends. She thanks client for their trust, allowing Yau Lee Construction to co-create a brand-new experience for Hong Kong citizens and visitors from around the world.

 

In the afternoon, Rosana from Yau Lee Group was invited as a panelist to participate in a sectoral sharing on the construction segment, co-hosted by Hang Seng Bank and the CIC to have a meaningful discussion on “Discovering Green Construction Values: A Path Towards Net Zero Transition” and explore how we can collectively drive sustainable construction towards a low carbon model. Rosana shared the Group’s experiences in MiC, particularly the breakthrough concrete demountable transitional housing. She further illustrated the importance of technology, citing BEANiE, Hong Kong’s first blockchain multifunctional platform for MiC full lifecycle management, and how it can enhance our ESG performance by eliminating construction waste and carbon emissions arising from rework, as well as monitoring construction site safety and the wellbeing of cross-border drivers and site workers. Last but not least, Rosana suggested establishing an ESG loan in addition to the existing green loan, social loan, and sustainability-linked loan to support SMEs. She believes that collaborating with cross-sector stakeholders is key to achieving a net zero transition.

 

In addition to the net zero transition, providing a safe working environment is always our top priority. Rosana attended the HKIE Safety Specialist Committee 30th Anniversary Dinner on the same day with the Group’s safety team to thank them for their hard work and contributions over the past year.
