At the invitation of the China Green Building and Carbon Neutral (Hong Kong) Council, Dr. Rosana Wong, Deputy Chair of Yau Lee Group, visited Beijing from September 7 to 9 to attend the Seminar on Practical Results of the 2025 Assessment Standard for Green Building (HK Version). During the seminar, participants presented an interim report and exchanged insights with Dr. QIU Bao-xing (Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences cum Former Deputy Minister, Ministry of Housing Urban-Rural Development), Mr. WANG You-wei (President of the China Green Building Council at the Chinese Society for Urban Studies) and Mr. GUO Zhen-wei (Vice President of the Green Building Research Centre at the Chinese Society for Urban Studies).

Rosana raised inquiries regarding Inclusive Carbon Benefit Mechanism, MiC and sustainable lifestyle hotel, seeking guidance from three leaders. Prof Qiu pointed out that Inclusive Carbon Benefit Mechanism is designed to boost public awareness, though international standard alignment remains a key operational challenge. He also praised MiC’s efficiency and energy conservation benefits, noting that satisfying diverse residential demands is its primary hurdle. Further discussion on MiC was carried out with Mr. Wang.

 

After the seminar, Prof. Qiu presented Yau Lee Group with the “2025 Assessment Standard for Green Building (HK Version) Technology Application Award”. Tentatively in early next year, the Council will publish a bilingual casebook showcasing exemplary Hong Kong projects to deepen global understanding of Chinese green building standards.

 

During the trip, Rosana was also honoured to attend a master concert at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. She was not only awed by the magnificent architecture and outstanding performances, but also deeply touched by the profound meaning of “passing on the torch” behind the concert. As the grand finale, “Navigating (領航)＂was performed by the Class of 2026 graduates and students of the China Conservatory of Music, the overwhelming resonance and infectious energy vividly demonstrated how music and art effortlessly transcend borders.

 

Rosana strongly believes green building and carbon neutrality share this cross-border nature. Just as music unites people, low-carbon innovation breaks geographical barriers to pass wisdom across generations. Yau Lee Group will continue driving standard internationalization, contributing to global sustainable development and dual carbon goals.
