【Future Skills Community Event -- The Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality in VTC】
As the vocational & professional education & training provider in Hong Kong, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) has organized a 3-day “Future Skills Community Event” to showcase the major achievements of VTC students and promote Vocational and Professional Education and Training and skills to the public. Additionally, concerning global climate change, all stakeholders of society must collaborate to achieve sustainable development and thus Miss Diane Wong, Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology, has participated in this event and delivered the opening remarks at a seminar themed “the Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality” this morning.

Yau Lee Group is always focused on I&T talent development. Ms. Rosana Wong, Executive Director cum Founder and President of Ophylla Ventures (OV), has visited the Event this morning and she is excited to see the magnificent accomplishment made by the new generation. Meanwhile, Rosana has been invited as the guest speaker at the panel discussion to share the view with various industry leaders. Rosana mentioned that our Group has targeted to accomplish carbon neutrality before 2050. She also shared our green procurement policy which supports the acquisition of energy efficient products, services and design as well as clean fuel, in addition to adhering to the law and consuming energy responsibly.

Regarding our new building construction, we are striving for the highest rating not only BEAM Plus but also other green certificates. Therefore, energy efficiency performance of our new-built projects will be higher than statutory requirements. Referring to Rosana, numerous building projects of our Group are currently adopting MiC. Based on our past experience, construction and manpower could thus be reduced by 40% and 60% respectively. Construction waste will be decreased further.

To facilitate long-term environmental policy of the HKSAR Government, OV is committed to developing autonomous vehicles which are crucial to emission reduction and smart mobility. Our MobiPro, the first MaaS (Mobility as a Service) autonomous shuttle in the HKSTP, which is developed by Urban.Systems under OV will be available for the official trail at the Park soon. Added by Rosana, the carbon emission of MobiPro can be reduced by 87% compared with public minibuses and it supports the latest vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology & 5G connectivity. She believes both carbon neutrality and smart mobility will be enhanced if this service can be extended to the nearby residences in Pak Shek Kok because it will encourage more people to appreciate the first-and-last-mile concept.

Yesterday, Mr. Antonio Chan, Deputy Managing Director of REC Engineering Co. Ltd. under our Group, has also visited the Event and been invited as the guest speaker at “IndustryConnect - Meeting with CEOs“ to share his insights on the foreseeable industry needs for manpower. This again proves our commitment in talent development for our future.
