【CIC BIM Competition 2023】
Rosana, Executive Director of Yau Lee Group, served as a judge for the Construction Industry Council (CIC) BIM Competition 2023. The competition aims to strengthen the new generation's understanding of BIM, stimulate the creativity of the students and give them the opportunity to apply BIM in practice.

The topic of this year's competition is to design a construction innovation campus, an expansion of the CIC’s Construction Innovation and Technology Application Center (CITAC). All participants must use BIM and Common Data Environment (CDE) software as well as the spatial data provided by the Hong Kong Geodata Store or Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) to ensure the compliance of CIC BIM Standard. OpenBIM approach was also encouraged. The proposal should also include planning and design, sustainable design, buildability and logistics of MiC/DfMA/MiMEP and the calculation and embodied carbon calculation and optimisation by using the CIC Carbon Assessment Tool (CAT).

After the second round of judging, COSMOS, formed by the Hong Kong Chu Hai College and the THEi, was the champion with a proposal combining functionality and aesthetics. The Team Jeme formed by the City University of Hong Kong and the DIA Team formed by the HKDI and the THEi were the first runner-up and the second runner-up respectively.

Despite the three-year epidemic, the enthusiasm of the students has not been hindered. All the students have worked hard to complete the work and fully utilised various innovative technologies. Rosana encourages the winning teams to uphold the outstanding performance and those who lost in the competition should not give up. She hopes that the students will join the industry after graduation and inject impetus into the industry.
