【World Bamboo Day】
The World Bamboo Organization recognized September 18th is the World Bamboo Day to celebrate bamboo and also raise awareness about bamboo as well as to emphasize its importance in global sustainable development.

Bamboo is a traditional building material and the construction technique of bamboo scaffolding is also part of Hong Kong culture. Using bamboo is not only because of its lower cost but also one of the fastest growing plants with extremely high regenerative ability. In addition, the CO2 absorption rate of bamboo is 3 to 6 times higher than that of wood. It can also be recycled. Bamboo therefore is definitely a low carbon and environmentally friendly building material. Besides, the elasticity and toughness of bamboo have made it a creative material for many artists in recent years. Integrating bamboo into art and life allows it to blend harmoniously with the natural landscape.

Since construction industry accounts for 40% of global annual CO2 emissions, Rosana of Yau Lee Group hopes that the industry will widely adopt bamboo as permanent building materials to unlock the social, environmental and economic benefits, and co-create the sustainable construction towards carbon neutrality.
