【Transitional Housing Project at James’ Concourse | Healthy Living Experience and Visiting Day】
The Healthy Living Experience and Visiting Day of the Transitional Housing Project at James’ Concourse, organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), was held this morning. Rosana of Yau Lee Group joined as a representative of the main contractor.

The event was kicked off with a series of sharing made by Charles (Chief Executive of HKCSS), Ms. Winnie Ho (Director of Housing Bureau), Josephine (CEO of St. James’ Settlement) and Paul (District Officer of Sham Shui Po). Secretary Ho mentioned that there will be another Transitional Housing Open Day this Sunday for all operators to answer the enquiries from the people in need. She believes that operators will need to learn from each other and constantly optimizes the design of the transitional housing to provide residents, especially children, with space to develop their strengths since having a target of advancing to the next level is important.

After the sharing session, the Village Head Ar Ho introduced the services provided by St. James’ Settlement. Since most people living with poor condition always face problems of social loneliness, physical cum mental health and health responsibility, St. James’ Settlement works with professional medical organizations to formulate health improvement plan, at the same time, they also act as a Link Worker to guide the residents to make good use of the rich resources available in Sham Shui Po as well as to blend into the community to improve both their physical cum mental health issues.

As a software pilot project, all guests were invited to experience different activities available in James’ Concourse, including WeWatch Health Check-up, stretching exercises, Nutrition and Healthy Delivery, Mobile Health Clinic, gardening area and art wall.

It was the first time for Rosana to revisit James’ Concourse after handover. When she saw a lady who was relaxing and enjoying in “Feng Shui Spot”, an open space named by the residents, she is very grateful for all the chances given to us to build homes and provide safe places for people in need, even on a temporary basis. Rosana is also delighted to see that residents can “open the door” to establish stronger neighour relationships after moving into James’ Concourse and also learn to help each other, and ultimately create a community of mutual trust and friendship.
