The main conference of the Six International Conference on Civil and Building Engineering Informatics (ICCBEI 2025), hosted by HKUST, was held on Jan 9 and 10. Themed “Constructing the Future: Digital Transformation in Smart and Sustainable Built Environment”, ICCBEI 2025 served as a key platform for researchers, practitioners, and industry leaders to explore the intersection of civil construction, and maintenance of civil infrastructure.
The conference kicked off with welcome speeches by Ir John Kwong (HKUST), Prof H K Lo (HKUST), Prof Jack Cheng (HKUST) and Prof Nobuyoshi Yabuki (Osaka University), followed by an opening Speech by the Guest of Honour, Ir Ricky Lau (Permanent Secretary for Development) and an opening keynote presentation by Thomas (CIC Chairman). Various international experts, including Prof Kincho Law (Stanford University), Prof Ioannis Brilakis (University of Cambridge) and Prof Dongping Fang (Tsinghua University), etc., were invited to provide keynotes, technical sessions and workshops on digital twin, generative design and smart infrastructure. These discussions aimed to enhance the design, construction, and maintenance of civil infrastructure to tackle global challenges.
After the first day of the conference, Rosana of Yau Lee Group joined the conference banquet for an in-depth discussion with the speakers. She looks forward to pushing the boundaries of innovation and applications in construction digitalization.
