CIC – See What I See Luncheon
The Construction Industry Council (CIC) hosted the “See What I See” Luncheon this afternoon (2/6), with Ms. Mable Chan, Secretary for Transport and Logistics, as the Keynote Speaker. She presented on “Innovative Thinking” and its impact on transport and logistics policies.
Prior to Secretary Chan's presentation, Thomas, Chairman of the CIC, delivered opening remarks on how to create a connected smart city. He asked the audience to share what key elements are essential for developing a future smart city through an online questionnaire. Secretary Chan mentioned that “dual innovation” thinking on policy and technology is currently being adopted in the Bureau to expedite various transport infrastructure projects, such as smart traffic management, three transit projects, and low-attitude economy (LAE). She encouraged all stakeholders to maintain an open mindset, which can transform challenges into opportunities.

Afterward, Rosana from Yau Lee Group was invited to join a panel discussion chaired by Ir Hon Chan Siu-hung. They discussed the implementation of innovative transport infrastructure, alongside two other panelists, Eva from MTR and Theresa from Arup. Rosana shared her experiences from two perspectives, R&D of autonomous solutions as an entrepreneur, and MiC and its full lifecycle management through BEANiE, particularly focusing on the wellbeing of drivers as a developer, contractor and manufacturer. Rosana further emphasized that “carry on being an innovator, an adopter, an integrator and ultimately a collaborator. Everyone, whether international mega corporation, SME, or startup, should collaborate together. That is the true path to sustainability.”

Lastly, Thomas shared two AI-generated images of Hong Kong as a future city, illustrating the differences made by incorporating the key elements and visions suggested by the audience at the beginning of the luncheon as the prompt. This highlighted the importance of sustaining an innovative spirit for a better tomorrow for Hong Kong and beyond.
