Future Cities Symposium 2025 – Day 1
The Prosit Philosophiae Foundation, founded by Rosana of the Yau Lee Group, has supported the Future Cities Laboratory at the UK’s Royal College of Art and HKU’s Joint Lab on Future Cities (JLFC) since 2018 and 2019, respectively. Drawing on solid research experience from the past years, the two labs have decided to host the Future Cities Symposium in Hong Kong and Dubai to showcase innovative research findings in sustainable transportation, data-driven infrastructure, urban well-being, and speculative futures, integrating perspectives from engineering, data science, and the social sciences.
The symposium aims to facilitate and explore the development of future cities, extending from Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and China to the GCC countries, as well as the UK and EU, as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. We are honored to have Secretary Winnie Ho serve as our Guest of Honour and to deliver the opening speech on “Housing for Millions” and the presence of the Consul General of the UAE in Hong Kong. Following this, five sessions on Mobility, Digital Transformation, Spatial Data, Sustainability and Carbon Neutralization, and Space Economy featured over 25 esteemed speakers, including Under Secretary for Transport & Logistics, Mr. Liu Chun San, to deliver keynote speech.
Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between GVDC, a subsidiary of the Yau Lee Group, and YJK, a Beijing-based software company, took place during the opening ceremony. Under this MoU, both parties will collaborate to localize the YJK BIM Software to meet Hong Kong standards and regulations in support of national software initiatives.
Rosana expresses gratitude for the support from co-organizers, speakers, sponsors, and the Dubai Chambers and Dubai CommerCity. She hopes that the symposium could facilitate a technology corridor to create a synergistic ecology among the different locations, fostering the development of everyone’s future cities.
