Construction R&D Forum, organised by the Centre of Excellence for Major Project Leaders, Development Bureau with a theme of “Bringing Applied R&D to a New Height”, has been taken place at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong today and Mr. Paul Chan, Financial Secretary, has been invited as the Guest-of-Honour, together with Ms. Bernadette Linn, Secretary for Development, Prof Jin-Guang Teng, President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and air Dr Andrew Chan, Chairman of University-Government-Industry Consortium, as Keynote Speakers.
Ms. Rosana Wong, Executive Director of Yau Lee Group, has been driving Applied R&D continuously with great efforts for many years and hence she was invited as a speaker at the Forum, where she shared her inspiring experience and insights on “Digitalization in Smart Construction”. Due to integrating R&D at the heart of business strategy is essential in particular shifting traditional construction from the least digitally advanced to one of the most innovative industries, Rosana illustrated various MiC projects for the enhancement of efficiency and productivity to support the Light Public Housing Scheme implementing by the Government.
In addition, Rosana introduced BEANiE, Hong Kong’s first blockchain multifunctional platform for Full Lifecycle Management of MiC. It’s now developed into BEANiE 5.0 to strengthen traceability and safety.
On the other hand, Rosana shared the latest updates on MobiPro, the very first MaaS (Mobility as a Service) autonomous shuttle service launched by Urban.Systems under Ophylla Ventures, to be available for trial in the Science Park soon. It’s worth noting that CO2 emission will be reduced by 87% which can contribute to actualize “Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050” eventually.
Last but not least, Rosana talked about the establishment of two Global AI Future Cities Labs with the Royal College of Art in the UK and the University of Hong Kong. The objective is to strengthen the academic collaboration locally and internationally. Together with the GVDC Training Centre recently set up for nurturing I&T talents, it could benefit the AECO industry as well as the ESG would also be enhanced.
