【The Housing and Development Board of Singapore visited the Subsidised Sale Housing at Hung Shui Kiu Phase 1A】
The delegation led by Mr. Tan Meng Dui, CEO of Housing Development Board (HDB) of Singapore visited the Subsidised Sale Housing at Hung Shui Kiu Phase 1A this morning. Representatives from the Development Bureau (DevB) including Frankie, Chief Assistant Secretary (Works), Tommy, and Chi Lung as well as Franco, Assistant Director, and Gordon from Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS), together with Rosana, Executive Director of Yau Lee Group, welcomed and greeted the delegates in person.
Frankie of DevB took the lead to explain the opportunities that Hong Kong’s construction industry is currently facing, including the fast-track delivery of infrastructure, land and housing and it is expected that the annual total construction volume in Hong Kong will reach HK$300B in the next few years. In order to uplift the productivity of the construction industry, a cross-departmental steering committee has been established to advocate the adoption of innovative construction technologies such as MiC and MiMEP to achieve “least on-site efforts” and high productivity construction.
Franco of HKHS pointed out that the HKHS has served Hong Kong for 75 years. It currently has 25 housing projects and will provide about 28,000 units in the next 10 years. HKHS will actively adopt construction technologies such as MiC and Volumetric Precast Bathroom/Kitchen to speed up the construction progress. The Subsidised Sale Housing at Hung Shui Kiu Phase 1A will be the tallest MiC project with balcony in Hong Kong. It consists of 25 MiC storeys to provide 300 units and a 3 storeys podium for carpark, recreational facilities and plant room. In addition to the MiC, MiMEP and MiLift have also been adopted. The utilization rate of MiC and prefast is as high as 80%.
Rosana stated that Yau Lee Group will fully support and expedite the development of MiC. We are also committed to achieving high productivity construction with the aid of cutting-edge technologies. She then showed HDB the real time monitoring of the MiC production lines in Huizhou via Smart Site as well as the latest progress of the project through BEANiE, Hong Kong’s first blockchain multifunctional platform. BEANiE 4.0 was originally adopted in the project. With the support of HKHS, BEANiE 5.0 has soon been achieved. Apart from the management of MiC production, quality, delivery and installation, logistic management and driver’s wellness, dashboard and real time monitoring, traceability and safety in controlled zone (TRACY) and Smart Site Safety System (SSSS) are added. Lastly, the project team led the delegates to visit the showroom flat on the second floor to conclude the visit.
Rosana thanks HDB for visiting and is very happy to have an in-depth exchange with Mr. Tan Meng Dui, CEO of HDB and Ms. Teh Poh Suan. Yau Lee Group has started its business in Singapore since 2008 with the first project namely the Marina Bay Sands which was built with fast-track construction. Later, we also worked for HDB and completed 3,850 units in 7 years, providing an average of 550 units for local citizens every year. Yau Lee has hosted the Singapore government and industry for different visits to exchange insights on prefabrication construction, fast-track construction and innovative construction technologies. Rosana cherishes every opportunity for in-depth exchange and hopes to facilitate the development of local construction by sharing our experience in high productivity construction and continuing to build in Singapore. She also expects to export and localize Yau Lee’s patented MiC technologies to improve its productivity, quality and safety, and last but not least, continue to help HDB and Singapore to acutalise “Home Truly: Building Dreams, Housing Hopes”.
