The 2022 Honours List was published in the Government Gazette today. We are very pleased to announce that Mr. I K Wong, Chairman of Yau Lee Holdings Limited, has been awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) by the Hong Kong SAR Government for his dedication in the construction industry over the past 72 years.

 

The citation of Mr. Wong published by the Hong Kong SAR Government is as follows:

“Mr. Wong is awarded BBS in recognition of his notable contributions to the construction industry of Hong Kong. He has greatly contributed to the housing supply of Hong Kong by participating in the building of about 15% of the total public housing in the past decades, providing homes to over 500 000 people. A passionate pioneer in promoting advanced construction technologies, he has led Hong Kong to become one of the global leading forces in applying precast elements in building works.”

 

Mr. Wong has led the Group to adopt different innovative construction technologies such as Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Multi-Trade Integrated Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (“MiMEP”), etc in the completion of Hong Kong’s first MiC project - Fire Services Department Pak Shing Kok Married Quarters, Hong Kong’s first demountable concrete MiC transitional housing as well as the conversion of community isolation and treatment facilities within a very short period of time. Mr. Wong will be inspiring the Group to widely adopt such technologies to enhance construction productivity, sustainability and safety, so as to reduce construction time and boost up housing supply in Hong Kong.
