The historical Central Market, the first wet market in Hong Kong with a history of over 180 years, has been reopened in August 2021 after 4 years of revitalization carried out by the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) and become a new landmark for cultural and leisure activities. It was recently awarded the Special Architectural Award - Heritage & Adaptive Re-use of The Hong Kong Institute of Architects in recognition of the performance and efforts of all parties involved in the project. GVDC, a subsidiary of Yau Lee Group, is honoured, also the first time, to be elected as a BIM consultant to lead the team in the implementation of 5D BIM and laser scanning. With these technologies, the team could accurately understand the original structure of the building as well as construction programme and costing, therefore, safety, buildability, innovation, productivity and quality of the project could be eventually enhanced.
