【The buildingSMART International Standards Summit | Day 3 Highlights 】
The "buildingSMART International Standards Summit Forum" has entered the third day of the agenda. Today's highlights include the Shared Room forum hosted by Jeffrey Ouellette, International Project Coordinator of buildingSMART International. He introduced the importance of Asset Operations Handover (AOH) and how to use the Modular Information Exchange Strategy to leverage openBIM. Followed by the session co-hosted by Tomi Henttinen, CIO of Gravicon Oy, and Aarno Alanko, Head of Unit at City of Helsinki Urban Environment Division, on the reform of Finnish Building Act where Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) will become a mandatory requirement for all new built and renovation projects from 2025, and shared the process and technical content of formulating and implementing the statutory requirements.

Rosana, Executive Director of Yau Lee Group, and the delegates have joined the Regulatory Room Session again. The speakers shared that the “Guidance on openBIM for Regulators” is being developed as a primer for governments and jurisdictions to understand the benefits of openBIM as a platform for process improvement as well as the importance of digital submission and permission.

After the Summit, Rosana, together with Ada, Chairperson of HKABAEIMA and Calvin, Founder and CEO of Strategic Building Innovation, visited a local restaurant for dinner. The owner of the restaurant is also a chef and a designer. He loves his job and cooks the most delicious and exquisite dishes for every guest wholeheartedly. His dedication is just the same as the HKABAEIMA delegates’ ambition for developing openBIM and construction digitalization in Hong Kong. Looking towards the summit venue from the restaurant, there is a horse statue which symbolizes the repaid development of construction digitalization in Hong Kong, especially when all stakeholders collaborate closely, it can be “half the work, twice the effect” for sure and we hope that Hong Kong could become the leading city in the world.
