【Hong Kong Women Professionals & Entrepreneurs Association | Carbon Neutral Forum and Awards】
Organized by the Hong Kong Women Professionals & Entrepreneurs Association, "Carbon Neutrality Forum and Awards" has been taken place this afternoon. Mrs. Regina Leung , wife of the Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Ms. Maria Tam, Deputy Director of the HK Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the NPC, Ms. Diane Wong, Under Secretary for Env & Ecology and Dr. Cheung Tin Cheung, Chairman of the Hong Kong Green Building Council, have been invited as the Guests of Honour. Under Secretary Wong pointed out that Hong Kong is the first city in Asia to implement carbon neutrality during her opening speech. She then encouraged all parties to reduce carbon emission from the source through four major decarbonisation strategies: net-zero electricity generation, energy saving and green buildings, green transport and waste reduction.
Rosana, the Executive Director of Yau Lee Group, was appointed as the event advisor and invited to deliver a speech as a Founder and President of Ophylla Ventures, together with Thomas, Chairman of the Construction Industry Council , and other speakers on how different industries including construction, autonomous vehicle, smart mobility, public transport and smart recycle can contribute to carbon neutrality. After the forum,, awards were presented to the winning teams, among which P.L.K. Vicwood K.T.Chong Sixth Form College won the championship with its bamboo curtains.
The annual dinner was also held on the same day. Mrs. Leung shared that "Food For Good” aims at promoting green food culture in Hong Kong to save food and reduce waste towards zero carbon emission during her speech. At the same time, Ms. Tam appreciated that the students could fully utilise resources. She believes that R&D is a process and everyone should work together to achieve a better result. Meanwhile, goals and determination both are the keys to success. She hopes that Hong Kong can connect the world and shine through carbon neutrality.
