Organized by DEACONS, “Construction Forum 2023”, themed with “Embracing Challenges for Changes and Innovation in Construction: Hong Kong and Beyond”, has been taken place today. Rosana, the Executive Director of Yau Lee Group, together with Ada, Chair of HKABAEIMA, have been invited to be the guest speakers at the session hosted by Stanley, DEACONS’s Consultant, to navigate their horizons of innovation around ESG in construction.

 

Ada firstly shared incentives on ESG implemented by the Housing Authority in the public housing projects. She also encourages our industry to adopt innovative solutions such as BIM to reduce construction wastes and impacts on our planet. Rosana then shared the evolution of our smart green hotel where 5D BIM, AI, CDE, digital twin, etc. will be adopted. In addition, she also introduced BEANiE, Hong Kong's first blockchain multifunctional platform, to strengthen project performance and ESG in different aspects. In Q&A session, Rosana, Ada and Stanley shared how the construction industry can make full use of AI to improve project efficiency, buildability and safety, and consider including it in the tender requirements to achieve the goal of accelerating housing supply in Hong Kong and improving the quality of grassroots housing.

 

During the forum, Rosana met many friends at the venue, including a lot of legal elite, Ms Mou Xue, Chief Representative of Qingdao Center for Business & Commerce, and Sr T. T. Cheung. She is very excited about the close collaboration between practitioners on promoting innovation and technology. The forum also inspired her to actualise construction digitalisation from a legal perspective. In addition to ESG, Rosana believes that community “C” is equally important. The Group has built about 15% of public housing units for over 500,000 residents in 65 years. Recently, we have also been committed to building demountable transitional housing for those people in need. The Group will continue to incorporate ESG and SDGs into the core of our business in order to drive the construction industry to benefit the community.
