The Workshops on Construction Robots, organized by the Construction Industry Council (CIC), is being held at the Kowloon Bay campus of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction from today to 18/10. The event aims at promoting the wider adoption of construction robots to improve overall performance and competitiveness.
Rosana of Yau Lee Group was invited to be a guest speaker at the kickoff seminar. Before the seminar, she participated in a VIP tour with Ms. Winnie Ho (Secretary for Housing), Thomas (Chairman of the CIC) and other industry leaders to learn more than 20 types of construction robots and exchange ideas with the exhibitors. MobiInspect and Transbot, developed by Urban.Systems Co Ltd and O-link Limited respectively, are also exhibited in the workshop. MobiInspect can be equipped with different sensors for inspection and facility monitoring on preset routes while Transbot is a wireless-controlled universal services vehicle for transporting building materials or equipment.
At the kick-off seminar, Thomas took the lead in giving a welcome remarks. He pointed out that a holistic robotic solution can maximise efficiency and advocated the inclusion of robotic solutions in construction contracts. Secretary Ho then delivered an opening remarks to encourage the adoption of construction robots. She also mentioned that every company should set up a R&D team and employ more young people to enhance innovation for the industry.
Rosana shared "Holy Moly” indoor, outdoor and heavy duty robots, which are developed on the principle of “see a need, fill a need, take the lead”. She believes that “Hong Kong Made” robots are more suitable for local site environments. In the meantime, in order to support the government, Yau Lee Group will consider to use different robots without charging additional cost in transitional housing and light public housing projects. We will also provide a flexible rental plan for the industry to contribute to the wider adoption of construction robots.
