Lighthouse Club International Construction Conference
The Lighthouse Club International Construction Conference entitled “Design for Safety and Collaborative Contracting to deliver Safer, Sustainable Infrastructure Projects on Time and within Budget” was held today. As a Bronze Award winner of the International Design for Safety Awards 2020, Yau Lee Construction was invited to share our experiences gained in the construction of the long span footbridge connecting Hoi Ying Estate and Hoi Tat Estate during the Design for Safety Workshop.

This 145-meter-long and 6-meter-wide footbridge is the longest footbridge constructed in a public housing estate in Hong Kong. By adopting novel technologies including “Lowering Construction Method” which was firstly adopted in Hong Kong and “DfMA”, the assembly was completed smoothly in only one night. Meanwhile, high degree of accuracy was also very important therefore BIM and 3D laser scanning technology were heavily adopted to avoid a little inaccuracy which could lead to failure in assembly.

Award presentation was held right after the conference. Our Project Managers Richard and Leo represented the project team to receive the award from Ada, President of the Lighthouse Club, and Robert, Ex-Officio.
