CityU ACE Practical Workshop & Roundtable
The Practical Workshop & Roundtable on Innovations and Implementation of Low-carbon and Green Building in Hong Kong, organized by the Dept of Architecture and Civil Engineering of the CityU, was held this morning (1/8). Ir CS Ho, General Manager of BEAM Society Limited, was invited to delivery an opening speech as a collaborator and followed by two keynote presentations by Prof. Zhao Lihua of South China University of Technology, and Mr. Chan Pui Cheong, CEO of the HKQAA, on Guangdong Green Building Labeling Development and Green Building Technology Implementation and Marketing respectively.

Rosana of Yau Lee Group was invited to share her insights on Green Building Collaboration for Industry Improvement. She used the journey of the Group’s hotel development from 1.0 to 3.0 as an example. Due to the lack of good efficiency of the hotel 1.0, we then decided to go green and become a green integrated corporation in 2005 which was successfully demonstrated in hotel 2.0. The hotel 2.0 is still the world’s greenest high-rise/hotel in the record with 4 highest level of green certificates. Though the application processes were challenging, Rosana believes that it was worth doing and the team was motivated by success and passionate about achieving better results by AI during the 10-year operation. The hotel is now being renovated into hotel 3.0 where smart command theatre and different digital twin solutions will be implemented to further improve the sustainability performance.  Rosana also emphasized the importance of collaboration and looks forward to working closer with the stakeholders on ESG, SDG, carbon tracing and carbon credit in this year as planned.
