Construction of Public Housing Development at Kwu Tung North Area 19 Phases 1A and 1B
Ms. Winnie Ho, Secretary for Housing, and Mr. Victor Tai, Under Secretary for Housing, visit the construction site of the Public Housing Development at Kwu Tung North Area 19 Phases 1A and 1B to support Housing Authority’s first full MiC project. Dominic, Asst Dir (Project) 1, and Anthea, Ch Architect 2, both from the Housing Authority, joined the site visit with IK Wong, Chairman of Yau Lee Group, and Rosana, Deputy Chair, to welcome the Housing Bureau.
This project, including six 38 to 40-storey blocks, is being fully built by MiC with 12,950 MiC modules to provide 4,968 housing units. Apart from showing the MiC design and a MiC mock-up unit, the project team has also demonstrated Safety Rangers, a safety robot specially designed for monitoring of MiC lifting. When there is any unsafe acts / dangerous situation in the tower crane lifting zone and mobile plant operation danger zone, an alarm will be triggered. Together with other Smart Site Safety System (4S) solutions, all these serve as important safety prevention measures. During the site visit, Winnie and Victor also witnessed the lifting process of a MiC module which only took around 10 minutes, 50% faster than the original planned time.
Rosana then introduced the “Safety Family” designed by our own colleagues. The inspiration came from the Happy Family of the Housing Bureau. We used the concept of tangram puzzles to represent seven Safety Characters which helps strengthen the objectives of 4S implementation. Coupled with the safety slogan also created by our workers, the Safety Family is displayed in different locations of the site to remind everyone the importance of site safety and eventually extend the wellbeing and the happiness to the construction site.
