The Construction Industry Council (CIC) invited a total of 18 delegates including members of the Task Force on BIM Submissions to the Buildings Department, members of Com-BIM & Construction Digitalisation, representatives from the government and Polymers, the champion team of the CIC BIM Competition 2024, to join a study tour to Singapore from 3/9 to 6/9, aiming to explore successful case studies of BIM and construction digitalisation implementation and exchange insights with local government and stakeholders to foster collaboration.
Rosana of Yau Lee Group and the delegates visited Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA), buildingSMART, Singapore Institute of Architects and various software companies to understand the local BIM submission procedure and challenges. They also visited the Building Environment 5G Lab of the National University of Singapore and attended the International Built Environment Week (IBEW) conference where they gathered the latest information on ConTech and PropTech including construction automation solutions.
Rosana has been maintaining a close relationship with the construction industry in Singapore. We started our first project at the Marina Bay Sands in 2007 which was a fast track project with concreting works completed in 9 months. We then set up a temporary factory in Johor, Malaysia with the support of The Sands Corporation for the second project to eliminate the logistic issues. By adopting our solid experiences gained in our own precast plant in China, we successfully manufactured high quality of concrete columns. Yau Lee Group has become one of the leading contractors in Singapore and started constructing public housing development for the BCA and the Housing & Development Board (HDB) as well as other private development projects. We also provided 5D BIM Training to BCA Academy and hosted different study tours on precast construction/MiC/ PPVC for the delegates from Singapore to visit Yau Lee’s construction sites in Hong Kong. Given the similar dense urban landscape in Hong Kong and Singapore, Rosana looks forward to having more exchanges and learning opportunities between two regions, working together to enhance productivity, safety and sustainability in the construction industry.
