The ceremony of “HKIE Structural Excellence Award 2022” has been conducted at Island Shangri-La tonight to recognise the contributions of structural engineers in the industry. With the construction of the “Disciplined Quarters for the Fire Services Department at Pak Shing Kok, TKO” and the “Long Span Footbridge connecting Hoi Ying Estate and Hoi Tat Estate”, Yau Lee Construction Co Ltd has been presented with two Grand Awards under the categories of Hong Kong Project - Residential Infrastructure & footbridges. Rosana, Richard Lee, Emil and Richard Fung have received the trophies on behalf of Yau Lee.
Rosana is delighted that our projects have been acknowledged by HKIE and thanks the project teams and consultants who jointly created two new records in HK — the 1st public works to apply MiC and the 1st footbridge to adopt "Lowering Construction Method", with the goals of minimizing construction time, reducing the number of on-site workers and construction wastes. Most pivotally, the above projects have served as excellent examples for various construction projects in HK by achieving enhanced safety, buildability, sustainability and productivity.
To recap, the award-winning project in TKO consisted of about 3,800 MiC boxes to provide the Fire Services Department with about 650 units while the iconic 145-meter-long footbridge spans over the West Kowloon Highway and Lin Cheung Road with 16 lanes as well as 3 railways could be successfully assembled within one night via the adoption of innovative design & construction solutions. It’s worth noting that both projects have been awarded with numerous accolades and this further represents the extensive recognition of our achievements in construction innovation.Rosana would like to give the heartfelt thanks to the clients for their continued support and trust.
