PolyU Northern Metropolis Future Forum Season 2 was held this morning (5/11) with the theme “Where conservation meets prosperity in northern metropolis” . The forum focused on “Ecological Empowerment” and “Experiential Empowerment”, discussing how to achieve a balance between People, Planet and Profit.
The forum began with a welcome speech by Professor KK Ling, Director of the Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation (J.C.DISI). He metioned that J.C.DISI aims to collaborate with various sectors of society to build a "Beautiful Northern Metropolis," promoting a vision of "people-centered, nature as teacher, and harmonious coexistence" through a social innovation perspective, while creating economic value based on conservation. The first keynote explored innovative models for modern fishing and agriculture, promoting the diversification of aquaculture and enhancing the brand value of local fish and agricultural products. The second keynote focused on regenerative tourism, promoting ecosystem restoration and cultural heritage revitalization, combining North Metropolitan's unique ecological resources with cultural experiences to enhance the economic benefits of local tourism, attracting visitors to scenic spots with authentic cuisine in remote locations.
Rosana of Yau Lee Group participated in the forum and VIP lunch. She believes that achieving a balance between development and conservation is very important, highlighting the "Blue and Green Recreation, Tourism and Conservation Circle" located in the easternmost part of the Northern Metropolis, as a model of coexistence between development and conservation.
