Low-Altitude Economy — Opportunities and Prospects for Smart Public Housing Management Seminar
The seminar “Low-Altitude Economy — Opportunities and Prospects for Smart Housing and Property Management,” co-organized by City University of Hong Kong (CityU), the Greater Bay Area Low-Altitude Economy Alliance (LAEA) and the Smart City Consortium (SCC), was held this morning (13/3). It examined trends from the integration of the low-altitude economy (LAE) and smart-city development, exploring how LAE technologies drive innovation in smart housing and showcasing age-friendly technology applications in property management.
Opening remarks were given by Professor Anderson Shum, Vice-President of CityU, and the Honourable Elizabeth Quat, Founding President of LAEA. Secretary Winnie Ho highlighted using LAE technologies to improve citizens’ wellbeing, citing drones for construction safety monitoring, handover inspections and estate management, and noting pilot trials for drone delivery of supplies and medication to public housing estates will be carried out soon.
Prof. Lishuai Li and Prof. Jianguo Dai presented on Unmanned Aircraft Systems Traffic Management (UTM) and the integration of drones, AI and point-cloud technology from an academic perspective. Other speakers addressed topics such as empowering smart housing through LAE, applications of age-friendly technology in property management, and new guidelines for drone and CCTV surveillance.
Rosana of Yau Lee Group moderated a panel and Q&A with six guest speakers on deploying drones in Hong Kong’s dense urban environment, technical limits, and accelerating local adoption of age-friendly technologies.
Lastly, Gary, President of SCC and Secretary General of LAEA, delivered the closing remarks to conclude the seminar.
