Tseung Kwan O–Lam Tin Tunnel (TKO-LTT) and Cross Bay Link (CBL) will be opened on this Sunday. Today, members of the Transport Advisory Committee (TAC) have been invited by the Transport and Logistics Bureau to visit the above sites. Serving as a member of TAC as well as the Chairperson of Transport Complaints Unit Sub-committee, Ms. Rosana Wong, Executive Director of Yau Lee Group has been making every effort to drive smart mobility and sustainable development of transportation system in Hong Kong. She has participated in the above event hosted by Mr. Michael Leung, Project manager of East Development Office, CEDD this morning.
The TKO-LTT is a new trunk road linking TKO and the urban area, with a total length of about 3.8 km, of which about 2.2km is in the form of a tunnel. It connects the CBL and Po Shun Road in the east, and the Eastern Harbour Crossing, Cha Kwo Ling Road in Kwun Tong and the Trunk Road T2 under construction in the west. The CBL is approximately 1.8km in length, of which about 1km is a marine viaduct. After the opening, there will be a new route between TKO and Kwun Tong as well as Eastern Harbour Crossing. The commuting time between LOHAS Park and Kwun Tong Town Centre during peak hours will be reduced by around 20 minutes and the distance between TKO Town Centre and Eastern Harbour Crossing will be shortened by 7 km. In addition, CBL is Hong Kong’s first marine viaduct containing carriageway, cycle track and footway which built with an observation deck for the public to enjoy the beautiful scenery of TKO Bay and the eastern waterway and at the same time to encourage a smart and healthy living for the citizens. CBL has adopted innovation modular construction technology and its design can cater for 120 years of durability. The concept of “Eternity Arch” is opted for CBL main bridge that appears as a mathematical symbol of infinity “∞” which demonstrates its sustainability.
Rosana thanks the Government and the project teams for their effort, which enabled the above projects to be completed in 4 years. She expects the opening of TKO-LTT and CBL will relieve the heavy traffic on TKO Tunnel, TKO Town Centre and Wan Po Road, as well as give TKO a fresh new look.
