【Grand Opening of Tenacity Residence at Ying Wa Street】
The opening ceremony of SoCo’s Tenacity Residence at Ying Wa Street was successfully held today.

Tenacity Residence is the first concrete demountable MiC social housing project providing large units in Hong Kong. 140 units were completed less than a year and the residents have moved in ahead of schedule in January this year.

Senior Management of Yau Lee Group, including Mr I K Wong, Chairman, Ir Dr Conrad Wong, Vice Chairman, and Ms Rosana Wong, Executive Director, were delighted to join Mrs Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive, and Mr Frank Chan, Secretary for Transport and Housing, in attending the opening ceremony and witnessing the joy of beneficiary families. In order to better understand residents' expectations of social housing, we interviewed different beneficiary families including Mr Tam who lives with his wife, a daughter and a son. A family of 4 originally lived in a 90 sq ft subdivided room with a monthly rental fee at HK$5,500 and has applied a public rental housing unit since 2015 without success. All of them are very grateful for their new home at Tenacity Residence which is 4 times larger than the subdivided room and with increased natural light and better ventilation. Their standard of living as well as family relationship have been greatly improved by spending time together in the living room and the common area of Tenacity Residence. Gratitude from the beneficiary families becomes our driving force which reminds all of us at Yau Lee not to forget our mission. We will actively optimize our MiC systems and develop different AI technologies to enhance productivity, buildability and safety as well as to support timely accommodation with good quality for Hong Kong.

Social housing was initiated in The Chief Executive’s 2017 Policy Address by Mrs Carrie Lam. A total of 1,903 units were completed as at April this year to benefit 6,083 persons and the housing problems faced by grassroots families have been successfully alleviated.
